Location: Santa Ana, San Jose, Costa Rica
Status: Under Construction (2015)
Size: 450 m2
About the project: The site for this residence is inside of a gated community with regulations that promote Mediterranean revival architecture, starting with sloped roofs and barrel tile as the covering. The challenge was to abide to the regulations while still developing a modern aesthetic that conforms to the steep slope. The 180-degree view goes from the mountain range all the way down to the city below. The orientation of the spaces respond directly to the views, the living room view focuses on the city lights in the evening while the master bedroom faces the mountain sunrise. The house is multi-level to ease the circulation through the spaces. As you walk into the foyer you descend to the living spaces all the way down to the swimming pool and cabanas or ascend to the sun court, and private areas of the residence.
